About Ealing

Ealing forms a part of west London. It is located approximately 7.9 miles Charing Cross’s west and about 12 miles from the City of London. Ealing comes under the London Plan and was historically a village in Middlesex. The local economy got shifted to garden supply with the introduction of the railway back in 1938, which eventually led to suburban development. In 1901, it became a municipal borough and became Greater London’s part from 1965. It is now considered to be a significant retail and commercial centre.

Records suggest that elements of settlements were found back in the 12the century with the parish being scattered all over with settlements. The upper well-doing section of the society started considering Ealing to the place where one can escape from the smells and smoke.

Public houses and old inns such as The Bell, The Feathers, The Old hats and The Green Man gradually came up along the Uxbridge Road, with the expansion of London and with that, the place became more labour-intensive.

Ealing Broadway station serves the area. Three tube stations serve the place namely Ealing Common, South Ealing, North Ealing. TFL or Transport for London, once planned in reintroducing a tram line but opposition from the locals prevented that from happening.

There are a number of film studios in Ealing, with many of them being world’s oldest. BBC took over the studios in 1955. Several festivals take place in Ealing annually, which attracts quite a large around during those festival-days. Some of the famous festivals include Jazz Festival, Beer Festival, Comedy Festival, Blues Festival, Global Festival and much more.
